I was born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico. My first introduction to design and architecture came through my father, an architect whose work was influenced by Japanese, Greek, and contemporary architecture.
Growing up around those ideas gave me an early appreciation for proportion, simplicity, composition, and the relationship between a structure and its surroundings. Those principles continue to inform the way I look at a home and the landscape around it.
A path across creative disciplines
My creative path has never been limited to one discipline. I studied AutoCAD, furniture design, architectural principles, perspective, anatomy, and digital visualization. I also developed experience through hands-on work in design and construction.
Custom architectural furniture taught me to value craftsmanship, materials, detail, proportion, and the process of turning an idea into something tangible. My work as an artist and illustrator developed my understanding of composition, perspective, color, form, and visual balance.
I continue to work as a multimedia artist in acrylics and mixed media. I have also created original illustrations and spiritually inspired imagery for an apparel line. Art remains part of how I observe and compose a space.
Finding a home in landscape
Landscape became the place where these interests could meet. It brings together architecture, art, materials, planting, and the experience of moving through a property.
My work in the landscape industry has also given me more than ten years of experience in estimating, construction, materials, pricing, and project development. That practical experience informs the way I develop ideas: I consider both the creative vision and the realities of building.
Each discipline has added another way to see a project. Together, they help me create landscapes that are thoughtfully composed, practical, and connected to the people who will experience them.
